THAT'S NOT RIGHT

Readers, exciting news, Finley and her baby pal, Lev, went on a carousel for the first time together. In so doing, they broke all of the rules by sitting on their moms' laps, prompting the cool, laid back  woman who was operating the ride to say with a smile on her face, "that's not right..."

These pictures evidence the following:

(a) Me not being able to take a group selfie
(b) Lev going all out with his arms up in the air...wheeeee!!
(c) Finley cautiously studying the mechanics of how everything works
(d) Gorgeous Kim totally breaking the rules in a way June Cleaver never would

ACTION SHOTS

I am the worst at capturing Finley in action, which is a shame as she is a true social butterfly who enjoys the company of her fellow babies. Here she is playing post-dinner at Steph's house (that would explain why she is not wearing a top). She and her two favorite baby boys, Bodhi and Lev, are playing "house." Thanks Steph for hosting.

P.S. This also was the early evening when Bodhi successfully put about 18 grapes in his mouth at one time. We love you, chimpmunk cheeks Bodhi Bear!

JAWS

When your nickname is Finny the fish, you better take shark week seriously...

TRUCK, TRUCK, BIG TRUCK

Readers, Finley has a new favorite, trucks! We are learning about loaders, diggers, monster trucks (their only purpose is to run over other cars, who knew?), garbage trucks, and, of course, the BIG bulldozer.

I'm already fantasizing about taking Finley to  Diggerland.

WE CAME, WE SAW, AND WE TOOK OFF OUR SHIRT

As part of our adventurous weekend, Finley and I usually like to have one meal out on the town together. Readers, this is what we have learned: (1) It is best to go during off-hours (like 3:00 pm); (2) it is best not to sit next to any other patrons; (3) it is especially best not to sit next to any other patrons who suffer the misfortune of getting their food first; (4) outside seating is preferable; and (5) Finny will invariably end up with her shirt off and mommy's drink all over her.

Here we are after a lunch a Gepettos Needless to say, nobody was sad to see us leave.

NAP BOYCOTT

Weekends are so much fun especially when we boycott naps. Finny does not want to nap she wants to read about Biscuit at the Pumpkin Patch, what could be more fun? Clearly nothing based on Finny's expression.

TWINNING

Finley and I fended for ourselves for two weeks while adventurous Pap-Pap and Grandma traveled to Columbia. We made it through with the help of dear friends and neighbors. A special shout-out to Cake and neighbor Lisa. Much to the delight of Finley and mommy, the grandparents returned with matching, soccer shirts for us. Here we are modeling them.

Thanks to Finley, who has become an expert helper, for helping me pull back my hair. Also, look how tall sweet Finn is growing!

PLAYPEN FORMERLY KNOWN AS...

As Finley grows and grows and grows, she wants to move and move and move. Accordingly, mommy and Finny alike have ventured more and more often to the PP, which, due to the amazing change in circumstances, has been affectionately renamed the "Playpen."

MURKY WATER

Readers, there is much to catch up on, including, Finny's first swimming adventure with Summer, Dena, and Kimmy P. We all ventured to the Highland Park pool over the 4th of July weekend. Contrary to the advice received regarding how to navigate "baby's first time swimming," where the suggested best course of action is to ensure the pool is a calm and that the other swimmers are babies of like age with parents, we did the exact opposite and swam for the first time on what could have been the busiest pool I have ever frequented.

Not to worry, the crowd didn't deter us. First, we ventured to the "magic mushroom."

Then we swam in the BIG pool and the BABY pool. All of this swimming made Finny the fish very hungry, so we enjoyed a snack (ok, many snacks).

We hydrated...

Then, unfortunately, our day ended prematurely due to "murky" water, which may or may not have been the result of somebody's diaper...

Much to mom's chagrin, Finny fell asleep in the car on the way home. When she awakened, Finny was so hungry she could eat a horse (neigh neigh) and she was sporting, perhaps, the best swim hair I have ever seen.

*A very special shout-out to Summer for taking the pictures, feeding us, and taking the plunge with us into murky waters.

*Another very special shout-out to Kwed for Finny's amazing swimwear - mommy and Finny are twinning.
