ROCK ME, MOMMY

Rock, rock, dark, dark, dark...

ANGELS

Life works in mysterious ways. Something in the universe brought me Finley and something in the universe brought Finley and Cake together. Their love is palpable. How lucky am I to go to work knowing that Finley is happy, safe, and so so loved? (as she is either with Cake or pap-pap and grandma)

Rare shots of me, cake, and the Finster.

GIRLS JUST WANT TO HAVE FUN, PART TWO

One year later and girls still just wanna have fun...

STAY SWEET, FINLEY

I am not sure I have ever met a sweeter soul on this planet than my Finny...

MOMMY, IT IS TIME TO GET ORGANIZED

Although Finny appreciates a certain amount of creative chaos, she also loves order as exhibited by her repeatedly lining up her tigers and dinosaurs.  When I am lucky, I can snap a pic or two of Finley's process.

One of the many things I love about parenting is that it offers so many opportunities to reevaluate your life and who you are.  Because Finley likes order as it appears to calm and soother her, I have tried to be more organized/orderly. (Operative word is "try") MILESTONE ALERT: Finley calls me mom:)

READ TO ME, AUNT JUDY

Finley loves visits from Aunt Judy (aka "Aunt Dee"). The minute Aunt Judy walks in the door, Finley says, "book," and the two of them go for it. Here they are enjoying a comfortable moment together pondering whether there really is a lion in the meadow.

ASSISTANT FINLEY

When Finley comes to work with mommy, she is her typical efficient self. Here she is tending to the phones and helping mommy log in. She was most fond of the pictures of herself on the wall. Unfortunately, the view is not as good as the old office...but who needs a nice view when I can look at pics of beautiful Finley all day?

DIPPY TO THE RESCUE

Readers, according to the baby app, "The Wonder Weeks," Finley is in her last and final leap (leap 10). Apparently, during these leaps, Finley's brain grows and grows and grows, which can be very exciting but also scary and disorienting for sweet Finley as she enters new dimensions of understanding and perceiving. Because these leaps tend to bring on the three Cs (crankiness, crying, and clinging), Finley and I find great comfort visiting our happy places including, yep, you guessed it readers, Dippy the dinosaur!

Dippy the dinosaur to the rescue!

I BELIEVE HER

Finley, our country has taken a very sad and dark turn and now it is my job to protect you however I can. I will never give up or stop fighting for you, sweet, strong, smart baby girl...

WHEEEEEE LEAVES

Per usual, Kim and I acting like goofballs to make the babes smile.

Ellie, Lev, and Finley taking in the leaves of grass...

Lev catching leaves. Beautiful boy...

Time to take a break after such a fun morning. Perhaps the babes (and Bodhi who was dearly missed) will visit this bench for many years to come, making me think of the song Old Friends by Simon & Garfunkel.

JURASSIC PITTSBURGH

Readers, Finley is hooked on dinosaurs. As some of you may know, she does not like to leave the house without carrying at least one toy dinosaur that Aunt Cass and Uncle Peter gave her.  (Thank you) Lucky for Finley, we live in a city that prides itself of sporadic placement of huge dinosaurs. Here, Finley is visiting her favorite dino ("Dippy the Dinosaur).

Yes Finley, Dippy the Dino is BIG

Yes Finley, Dippy the Dino is BUMPY

Yes Finley, mommy loves Dippy the Dino too

Where's Finley...oh, there she is!
